"The Ballad of Chasey Lain" is a song by the Bloodhound Gang on their 1999 album Hooray for Boobies. It was released as a single in the United States and overseas.
The song is presented as a series of letters to the porn star Chasey Lain from a fan, requesting that he be allowed to perform anilingus on Lain. Over the course of the story, the fan is revealed to be obsessive, and the lyrics get progressively angrier, in mockery of the stance taken by the overzealous fan archetype once the affection is perceived as being ignored. With its escalating format, it is similar to Eminem's 2000 release, "Stan", although it was released before "Stan".
At the end of the song, the overenthusiastic fan either fantasizes about a serious relationship with Lain or actually kidnaps and introduces her to his parents as his wife to be, as indicated in the bridge: "Mom and Dad, this is Chasey / Chasey, this is my mom and dad / Now show 'em them titties."
Lain was the object of Jimmy Pop's obsession for a period leading up to the recording of the album (which led to the writing of the song), and was taped reading a dialog. Apparently, Chasey Lain never commented on this song about her. Outtakes were used for the subsequent track, "R.S.V.P." This ended Jimmy's fascination with her, though the song has been regularly played at the band's live performances.
The song shares its melody with "Sea of Sin" by Jimmy Pop's favorite band Depeche Mode.
The music video features the band performing the song on stage, and the director and the film crew are all naked women. Throughout the course of the video, the band is apparently becoming distracted by the naked women (Jared Hasselhoff actually walks and falls off the stage while distracted). At the end of the video, it is revealed the thing actually distracting the band members was an obese man eating food in a sloppy and disgusting manner.
